Child-Centered Therapy
Child-centered therapy focuses on the bond between you and your child, supporting your relationship to help the child develop and heal. This approach is based on the belief that a strong relationship with you is the most important tool for you child's emotional healing. Instead of working with your child alone, we work with both of you together. Building this connection lowers stress, improves behavior, and helps you both bounce back from difficult times.
A child's behavior is actually a form of communication. When children act out, they are usually trying to tell you something they cannot quite put into words. In our sessions, we will explore the deeper meaning behind these actions. You will also learn how your own responses can soothe your child and strengthen your connection, even when you feel completely overwhelmed. We will use play, conversation, and shared activities to help your relationship grow. Most of our meetings will be held in person, with a few parent-only sessions online.
Child-Centered therapy is meant for children ages 0-8 years and their caregivers.
Child-Centered therapy is especially helpful when:
A child has experienced stress, trauma, or early adversity
There are challenges with bonding or connection
Caregivers feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to respond
A child is struggling with regulation, anxiety, or relationship difficulties
There has been a recent life transition such as the birth of a sibling, loss of a loved one, divorce or separation, etc.
Together, we create a safe space for healing, connection, and growth—for both child and parent.
